Origins and monastic vocation
Son of the Duke of Bavaria, Conrad renounced his rank to become a monk at Clairvaux before setting out on a pilgrimage.
He was the son of Henry the Bl ack, Duke of Bav aria. After taking the monastic habit at Clairvau x, he made a pilgrimage to th e Holy Land.
Death in Italy and miraculous sign
Returning from the Holy Land, he died in Apulia where a miracle involving lambs manifested his holiness.
Having landed, upon his return, on the coasts of Apulia , in Italy, he ended his days there near an oratory of the Blessed Virgi n. It is said that to honor the body of the Saint, the lambs that were grazing in the vicinity came to kneel near him.
