Saint Publius of Athens
Saint Publius was the successor of Dionysius the Areopagite as Bishop of Athens in the 2nd century. According to certain traditions reported by Ado, he was the son of the magistrate of Malta healed by Saint Paul. He was himself succeeded by Quadratus at the head of the Church of Athens.

Succession to the Bishopric of Athens
Saint Publius succeeded Dionysius the Areopagite as head of the Church of Athens, information reported by Dionysius of Corinth, Eusebius, and Saint Jerome.
Dionysius, Bishop of Corinth, informs us tha t Saint Publi us succeede d Dionysius the Ar eopagite in the c hurch o f Athens, and we read in Eus ebius and in Saint Je rome that he himself was replaced by Quadr atus. According to some, this Publius was the son of that magistrate of the islan d of Malta whom Saint Paul healed of dyse nter y. Ado does not hesitate to profess this opinion in his Mart yrology.
