Saint Antolien is recorded by Gregory of Tours as a martyr in Auvergne during the invasions of King Crocus under the emperors Valerian and Gallienus.
Saint Gregory of Tours place s Saint Antoli en among the martyrs of Auver gne, whose triumph occurred during the irruption of Cro cus, king of the Alamanni, into Gaul, under the emperors Valerian and Gallie nus. It is stated in the Book of the Churches of C lermont that Saint Antolien rests in the church of Sa int-Gal. After the destruction of this church, his body was transferred to tha t of Saint-A llyre. Others maintain that the relics of Saint Antolien, after the destruction of the church of Saint-Gal in the 10th century, were take n to the Benedictine monastery of Chanteuge, now i n the diocese of Saint -Flour, and that they are still there among many holy relics, an illustration of this place.
