Blessed Angelus of Chivasso
A 15th-century Piedmontese Franciscan friar, Angelo of Chivasso distinguished himself by his exemplary piety and love of poverty. He died in Cuneo in 1495 and became the patron saint of the city following numerous miracles. His cult was officially approved by Pope Benedict XIV.

Youth and education
Born in Piedmont, Angelo received a pious education and manifested an intense devotion very early on, spending his nights in prayer.
Angelo of Chiva sso was a Piedmon tese. His parents, devoted to God, raised him in piety and in horror of sin. He responded perfectly to the care taken in his education and gave himself entirely to the service of the divine master. He spent part of his nights in conversations with heaven, and many times his mother surprised him thus on his knees before his crucifix and completely absorbed in his prayer.
Franciscan Commitment
He entered the Order of Saint Francis, where he distinguished himself by his love of poverty and his deep devotion to the Passion of Christ.
When he was older, he yielded to the desire that had pursued him to enter t he Order of Saint Franc is, where his exemplary piety soon won him the esteem and confidence of his superiors. He valued above all else the poverty he had made his friend, and he loved Our Lord so much that he could not read or hear the account of the Passion without shedding abundant tears.
Death, patronage and recognition
He died in Cuneo in 1495, became the patron saint of the city, and saw his cult officially approved by Pope Benedict XIV.
