    Biography

The life of Father Luigi Monza, from his humble origins in Cislago to his priestly ministry and his trials under the Fascist regime.

Father Luigi Monza was born on June 22, 1898, in Cislago, Lombardy, into a humble peasant family. Despite serious family hardships, notably the paralysis and subsequent death of his father Giuseppe, he pursued his priestly vocation with the help of his parish priest, Father Luigi Vismara. Ordained a priest on September 19, 1925, by Cardinal Eugenio Tosi, he exercised his ministry in Vedano Olona, where he was unjustly imprisoned by the Fascist regime in 1927. After a period in Saronno, he became pastor of San Giovanni alla Castagna in Lecco in 1936.

In 1946, the work expanded with the creation of the 'La Nostra Famiglia' association, dedicated to the care and scientific rehabilitation of children suffering from physical and mental disabilities, thus revolutionizing the medical approach to disability in Italy.
