Biography
Youth of Marie-Joséphine-Charlotte Dupouy, her education with the Servants of Mary, and her entry into the Society of the Sacred Heart.
Marie-Joséphine-Charlotte Dupouy was born on May 6, 1873, in Saint-Pierre-d'Irube, the only child of August Edouard Dupouy and Catherine Bordes. Privately baptized at birth, she was baptized on June 15, 1873. In 1882, she entered the college of the Servants of Mary in Anglet. During her confirmation in 1884, she chose Saint Teresa of Jesus as her patron saint. Despite the opposition of her parents, who wished to introduce her to social life, she ran away on June 16, 1898, to join the novitiate of the Society of the Sacred Heart in Paris, where she pronounced her perpetual vows on August 26, 1906.

Sent to San Sebastián in 1903, Marie-Thérèse taught catechism there to altar boys starting in 1914 and helped them discern their vocation. To perpetuate this work, she founded the congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary (M.S.C.J.M.) on April 1, 1926. The institute was canonically erected on December 12, 1930, by Bishop Mateo Múgica. The first sisters received the habit in 1931 and made their profession in 1935.

The Positio on her heroic virtues received a favorable opinion from theologians in 2014, and subsequently from the cardinals and bishops in 2015.
