    Biography

    Youth, education, and early years of religious life of Diomira Ludovica Romana Crispi.

    Diomira Ludovica Romana Crispi was born on November 19, 1879, in Partinico, Sicily. Orphaned of her father at the age of seven, she studied in Rome and then in Arluno. In 1901, she entered the Daughters of the Cross, completed her postulancy in France at La Puye, and took her vows under the name Sister Aloysa Marguerite. She then taught for ten years in Parma.

    In Parma, Sister Aloysa Margherita propagated devotion to the Sacred Heart. After a period with the Passionists, she founded the Society of the Oblate Sisters to Divine Love in Sicily on January 17, 1923, with the support of Bishop Intreccialagli. The institute is dedicated to education, orphans, and the clergy, expanding throughout Italy and later into America.
