    Biography

    The life of Faustino Pérez-Manglano, from his birth in Valencia in 1946 to his early death in 1963 from Hodgkin's disease.

    Faustino Pérez-Manglano Magro was born on August 4, 1946, in Valencia, Spain. The eldest son of Faustino Pérez-Manglano Vidal and María de la Encarnación Magro Alonso, he grew up in a Christian family and studied at the Marianist school Nuestra Señora del Pilar. In 1960, he felt the call to dedicate himself as a Marianist religious, but he was soon struck by Hodgkin's disease, an incurable cancer at the time. Despite his suffering, he maintained his joy and made his consecration to Mary before passing away on March 3, 1963, at the age of 16.

    Path to holiness

    The rapid spread of his reputation for holiness and the opening of his cause for beatification in Valencia.

    After his death, his reputation for holiness spread thanks to the biography written by his spiritual director, Father José María Salaverri. His remains were transferred in 1986 to the chapel of the Our Lady of the Pillar College. The cause for beatification was opened the same year in Valencia, and the Positio was submitted in Rome in 1994.

    The recognition of the heroic nature of his virtues by Pope Benedict XVI in 2011, declaring him venerable.

    On January 14, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI authorized the promulgation of the decree recognizing the heroic nature of the virtues of Faustino Pérez-Manglano, officially declaring him venerable. His cause is currently underway, awaiting the recognition of a miracle.
